Rain, Thunder and Lightning Strike - July 16, 2013 - Arizona Monsoon

Monsoon storm on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at 6:32 PM MST. Filmed in downtown Scottsdale near Granite Reef Rd + Indian School Rd.

This storm had the potential to produce brief heavy rain, small hail and strong gusty winds to 40 mph, according to a short term forecast from the National Weather Service.

Temperature dropped from 100 F to 75 F. Peak wind gust: 26 mph. Measured rainfall: 0.33 inch. (source: Navajo Elementary School weather station) No blowing dust. Heavy rain. No hail. Windy. Lots of thunder. One lightning strike nearby. Tree branch broke in the front yard. Storm damage nearby: transformer fire (1.1 miles away) and tree fire (1.8 miles away).
